FUCK YES this is way overdue. We must make New Brunswick tremble in our wake. What forms shall this new onslaught take? Shall it be noisy? Shall it involve casios? metal? Pete?

(I mentioned to Dave yesterday the idea of doing a movie about Pete to show at the festival, to spread his filthy gospel not only to New Jersey but across the Atlantic...)

A Rape Van performance would be fucking awesome. If you haven't let your chops down maybe we could do a split bill with Catharsism. And if Warren, Jen, Ried and I haven't let our chops down, maybe a Püppet Flesh set as well...

as long as its noisy & chaotic & some poor sucker has a nerves break down i don't see how we can go wrong.

casio. yes.
metal. yes.
real instruments. yes.
unreal instruments. impossible.

there is much to do.

Olchar E. Lindsann said...

I'll bet we could find a way to do unreal instruments too.

NEVER SAY DIE!!!

(just "kill".)

where do you think this joint performance might be held. that fancy compound you be living in? the lost & found gallery? my mom's ass? where?

Post-NeoAbsurdist Anti-Festival 2008 said...

For the time being I'd say that fancy compound; the one thing that it's missing is a basement, we're hoping to be able to hook up with a place with a basement venue so we could some stuff there too, but the one we're closest to here, courtlandtland, will have some people moving out and we'll have to see in a month or two what's going to be happening with the place, or what other places might be available by then.

Otherwise probably at the new house, we might not be able to amp all the way up and shake the walls in there but I mean, Catharsism did what we did with two practice amps, I'm not sure about Rape Van.

I think there's a decent chance we can find a basement venue but at the least we'll have the house.

It MIGHT be possible to do something clandestine in a studio etc. at the school too, it's been done before; but we won;t have the Lost & Found Gallery anymore (traded for the new gallery at our headquarters-place). That would probably be Tomislav's province...

The link to courtlandtland is on the right side of this blog, by the way; hopefully they'll still be doing stuff there. Lenny and Jamie from the first Fiddlesticks show are involved with that, among other great people. They're working on compiling a section of their group's stuff for Warren's upcoming journal BARM...

that sounds fine, just fine. fine. Rape Van will need some outlets to plugg into (Vox, Guitar, amp, etc.) but nothing to elaborate. we're Rape VAN not Rape STARSHIP.

Olchar E. Lindsann said...

Yeah, I was hoping you hadn't ditched the van now you're making the big bucks. Not like those cock-suckin' space-truckin' sellouts Deep Purple.

As for Catharsism inventory as it stands for me right now: I don't have a casio now but Reid Bingham might have some, even some with our old riffs on them. I also have an ancient drum machine from the early '60s that's pretty fucking sweet. And lpts of annoying noisemakers of course. And a mic, and that bigger amp we had back in Columbus with two channels that tend to interfere with each other.

sounds C.o.N-alingus & Rape-tastic. rape van are planning a whole sensory expeirence, that is as much as i want to say so not to ruin the event.

Olchar E. Lindsann said...

Fuck Yeah. Can't wait. And Müppet Flesh burns a church at every show. Of course haven't played a show yet... And Catharsism can up its ante as well; what about some Black Metal stage theatrics?

if you want to dress up like paul stanley be guest, Ba-Ba-Ba-Baby. at this point i don't think we should kid ourselves & admit; more is more & probabley better.

Something will need to be sacrificed to Satan, obviously.

less ended & more outros. is there a bear bones schedule for this disaster yet?

other question? would it be possible to jot over to NYC to check a museum without using a caromobile? cuase i wanna hit the nat.

Olchar E. Lindsann said...

First question:

There really NEEDS to be a bare-bones schedule, but so far nobody has told us when they can be here and almost nobody (present company excluded) has gotten on the blog to discuss what they'd like to see happen, so we're waiting on everybody else. We've been trying to figure out what to do about this for weeks but can't convince anybody to use the blog for some reason. I'll post something specifically asking to start talking about dates and see what happens... for instance whenever you are able to come out is probably when we'll do the sports day and (obviously) CoN because you've been most involved in getting that planning off the ground. So if the other 28 people do the same, the schedule will start to arrange itself...

Second question:

Yeah, New York's pretty easy. The new place will be a five minute walk from the train station, from there it's about an hour straight-shot train ride straight into Manhattan, $18 round-trip, or less if it's not rush hour.

If you're during the week at all we'll be at work during the day so NY would be a great way to kill some down-time without missing whatever's going on here on the weekend, or you can head up on the weekend. Not sure what the hours are.

sooo sadddddd bout usssss. troubling when i'm not the flakiest near-do-well of a bunch, respectively; too telling to. others must have more going on in thier lives that aren't on hold. ugh.

i'm not much help in the "when i'll be showing up" just yet as i have to join this trip with one to florida & either get a week off from my job or just quit when the time comes.

ha ha ha. in knew i could get to the big crapple without a stupid automocar sucking things up. i'll be back with details asapeepants.

Post-NeoAbsurdist Anti-Festival 2008 said...

Look at it this way, you've had more say about the planning of this thing so far than anybody who doesn't live here; and I must say that's pretty nice. Also because you're using the blog I'm actually communicating with you consistently with you, which I'm not with anyone else because it's the only format I have time to use right now...

Whenever you do end up coming out is probably the weekend we'll try to do the sports day, since you've been the most involved with the idea so far (and Tom lives here so he can do anytime). Eleanor Waterfowl from the UK left a comment suggesting a games night, which could possibly be connected (and we want to do a show of toys & games).

Have you talked to Dave lately? He got a summer in Florida, so he'll be down there as of April. Which puts the festival in question for him...maybe if you're down there you can hit him over the head with a bottle, stuff him in a suitcase, and smuggle him back. It would be absurd in the BAD way if he couldn't be at this thing...
