Planning my trip... and toys...

Hey everyone. It's Angee Lennard here (of Mossdale Estate and some floor tiles). I am working on actually scheduling my trip to the Anti-Festival before my summer gets to filled up and I inadvertently forget to come or forget to save money to come. I am planning my trip for June 21st and 22nd.

I am very okay with just absorbing the festival and attending events. However, it has been brought to my attention that there is some talk of a toy exhibition. This is something I would be very interested in contributing to. I have been wanting to make paper dolls of my Mossdale characters, and this would be the perfect opportunity. I will print multiples so visitors to the exhibition can have something to take home with them. I also could screen print cards for the exhibition that can later be cut out and made into something approximating a toy. Please, respond with ideas...

Hey Angee, thanks for posting that so that everybody knows what's going on. We're going to get a calendar going soon so that we can see who we've got each weekend as plans develop. So far that weekend, in addition to you Nick Hallam, David Beris Edwards, Eleanor Francis Waterfowl, and Amy Oliver should all be here, and probably others who haven't said yet.

Paper dolls would be great, in fact Megan Blafas is working on a paper doll project right now too (of the Dada Baroness Else von Freytag-Loringhoven) so it will be great to see how those interact.

Cards that could become toys would be great too. We hadn't even thought about cards, so really FUN cards are even better!

We should start another post about the toy show itself i suppose, but in the meantime we'd discussed it as a possible touring show eventually, being boxed and sent to each local Post-Neo community around the globe, in which case cards would be even nicer...

I love toys! Especially hacked electronic ones. I would definitely have a few if there were a toy show.

Oh NO! All this talk about toys has me pining to sculpt little men and paint them again! Perhaps we could cobble together some cheapo toys from local stores, reassemble them ala post-neo found object sculpture, and have them consort with Mosedale dolls! There are already a host of toylike objectoids on our walls, just waiting to be filmed in action.

Yes. I am going to make a series of very small paper dolls, maybe standing 2" high, so they can interact with things like plastic army men, and I can print many cheaply. I will bring them. Maybe we could somehow collaborate on paper dolls that could be mismatched. Like print 5 different heads, torsos, arms, and legs, and encourage putting them together in ways that are, a, post-neo? Or one person can be incharge of creating a particular part of a toy, and we could piece them together once we are all in New Jersey?

If I am to print cards, we'll need to guestimate how many I should print for multiple shows in the future. Printing many is easy, but I would only want to do one run because making the screens is boring, and time intensive... I can print the front on all of them, then custom print the back for each venue.

Also, practical question about travel: If I fly in at, say, 11pm or midnight, will the trains to your house still be running?

Thanks,
Angee

yeah yeah yeah! That would also make the dolls Louis the Lazy-Eyed Legionaire-sized....

I like the mismatching pieces idea, we could also have blank pieces that could be drawn on, and then traded around... if we wanted to make some little movies, we could use the built-in camera on a laptop, and use it as a little finger-puppet stage, and easily publish them straight onto the internet/blog/etc...

Also Reid's noise-toys will be GREAT.

In practical info, the trains stop running from the airport about 2AM (figure a half-hour for the tram from the airport to the station, to be safe), so if the plane does arrive on time it shouldn't be a problem. 11 might be safer than 12 just in case it's late.

Basically I can meet you/anybody else reading this blog anytime after about 8 pm if I go there from work.

It's about half an hour on the train from the airport to New Brunswick, then about a 5 minute walk to our house.
